O Dearly Beloved, when I say the words Generative Art, what comes to mind?
I’m guessing you conjure up an image of a fully digital object.
Something abstract, with geometric shapes, maybe some wavy patterns, and people pretending that it’s worth 100x because it faintly looks like a bird.
Just sitting in someone’s wallet, collecting cyber dust.
But what if I told you that there’s a new kind of Gen Art that’s coming?
One that you’ll be able to hold in your hands, show off in your home, sit on, stand under, wear on your head, go on a date with (maybe)?
I’m talking about Generative Packaged Goods
(catchier name coming soon)
These are unique physical objects, often tied to NFTs, made using a generative script.
Think everyday things, except you own a 1/1 that comes with onchain provenance and perhaps some extra utility.
We first highlighted this trend here, when we spoke about Luke Shannon’s generative physical chairs, which I ended up buying myself (RIP ikea).
But the train is now accelerating.
In recent days we’ve had announcements for:
1/ Optimism by Jeff Davis
The first of two drops introduced by Trame and CPG Club.
Custom-designed stained glass made using generative scripts. Has to be one of the fastest ways to bring good vibes to a room.
Jeff Davis has had several Art Blocks collections in the past, including the very popular Construction Token.
Supply, Price, Date: TBD
2/ Portraits by Martin Grasser
The second Trame/CPG Club drop.
More glass, this time in the form of luxuriously colored mirrors made in collaboration with Italian manufacturer, Arte Veneziana.
One for those who want to reflect “both literally and figuratively”.
Martin Grasser’s most notable collection was the recent Themes and Variations, done in collaboration with Vera Molnar.
Supply, Price, Date: TBD
3/ Generative Goods dot com
The latest brainchild of Art Blocks founder Snowfro.
This is an entire platform dedicated to releasing generative physical products “where each one is unique in both the digital and physical form”.
Their first drop, a heart made of blocks signed by Snowfro himself, sold out this week.
More to come – and with less than 500 followers there’s a chance to get into limited drops early.
Bottom line
I’m looking forward to writing posts in my Artist Signed Limited Edition Bathrobe, brought to you by Art Blocks Engine.
NOTE: These drops are lightly curated. Our only requirement is that they have recognizable founders. As usual, DYOR. To learn more go here.
AlterEgo by Transient Labs
The most active dev studio in the game right now, Transient Labs, launched a teaser for a gamified art drop featuring eight artists.
We’ll know what the art looks like before the mint starts, but we won’t know who the artists are until December 8th, after it’s finished.
More details should be on the way, including mint price and supply size. For now, this is looking similar to PROOF’s Grails. Don those tinfoil fedoras for the guessing game, miladies.
Noble Gallery Season 2 Finale
Noble Gallery ends the year and its second season with a bang, showcasing one of the strongest art lineups I’ve seen in recent memory.
Some of the top breakout creators of this year, Jack Butcher, batzdu, and die with the most likes, are on there, alongside more established names like Coldie, Tony Babel, and Jake Fried, to name a few.
There are 55 limited editions for each of the 10 artists, totaling 550 supply. Mint priority goes to holders of Noble’s LET’S PLAY, with the potential for a public mint afterward (in theory).
We don’t know the price for these yet but I’ve tentatively…

Bright Moments Paris Collection
Bright Moments just unveiled their lineup for city #9, featuring 13 generative artists collectors might like, including 2023 standouts like Luke Shannon, Martin Grasser, and Maya Man.
Although their last city collection, Buenos Aires, hasn’t sold out yet, and despite the fact that you’ll need to be around Parisians for the event, I find this upcoming drop enticing enough to be…

SIMULACRUM by XCOPY
He’s back.
XCOPY’s follow-up to ALGO BRO, the 42-supply debut in his CC0 fully onchain FRESH HELL collection that (as we expected) has been incredibly well-received.
This new release features the same style, mint price, supply, and allowlist mechanics as the last one. The mint is fully gated to existing XCOPY holders, with the allowlist raffles closing in a couple of days, suggesting the mint is coming soon.
He’s one of the most influential artists in this space, with impressive demand from collectors, so I’ve…
