it all goes to nothing tomorrow
Context
Artist Nat Sarkissian is dropping his latest Art Blocks collection, Life and Love and Nothing, on Wednesday (tomorrow).
Here’s what we know:
Supply: 200
Price: Dutch Auction from 3 ETH to 0.1 ETH
Charity: 50% of proceeds are going to Cure Alzheimer’s Fund
Our take
Prediction: dynamic NFTs will go wild this cycle and there’s nothing anyone can do about it.
Here’s the latest one that’s got us feeling a certain kinda way (mostly ponderous introspection).
Life and Love and Nothing starts with an illustration of a cabin nestled in the hills.
This image changes constantly throughout the year creating a living breathing landscape – clouds move, grass twitches in the breeze.
Then come the wildfires. Every year, between October and November, flames appear on the hillside, slowly consuming everything until nothing but ashes remain.
My understanding is that this will happen through visual snapshots, making this a series of stills as opposed to a real-time moving image.
The destruction lasts about a month, at which point the hillside and cabin reset for another year.
Half the proceeds will go to curing Alzheimer’s, and it’s clear that this disease is top of mind for the artist, who hopes to emphasize the reality of impermanence.
His words:
“FOMO is very present in this space. Missing out on auctions, opportunities, notifications, etc., but I hope that this piece will alight in you a fear of missing out on life and love, and perhaps remind you to hold on to and enjoy the impermanent things that matter most to you.”
FOMO? In this space? Couldn’t be me.
Bottom line
Sometimes dynamic art can go a little too heavy on the technical details, requiring long explanations to tease out every data-rich nuance.
Yet here we see a message that is both powerful while still very easily communicated.
We can imagine the bell curve meme here, with both the left and right characters saying something like “i like the pretty fire”.
Plus the message around FOMO couldn’t be better timed, for obvious reasons.

NOTE: These drops are lightly curated. Our only requirement is that they have recognizable founders. As usual, DYOR. To learn more go here.
As Above, So Below by Efdot & Amber Vittoria
Two popular artists join forces for this colorful 30-supply animated drop that sees them mesh their two styles into one feel-good piece.
One for those in a celebratory mood.
Cinematic AI by Chikai
Chikai Ohazama, renowned art collector turned curator turned artist, is set to have one of his biggest releases yet with the 17-supply Cinematic AI.
Ohazama, also a previous co-creator of Google Earth (TIL), is collaborating with the development team at Transient for this release (I swear these guys are on every newsletter). The drop sees him delve into AI video art, an area he’s tinkered with in the past and is definitely a growing trend.
One for emerging art vanguards.
Velocity Series Drop by Jack Butcher
Welp, the cat’s out of the bag for Red Bull’s Velocity Series fans. The previously hidden fourth and final artist in this digital art experience is none other than Jack Butcher, the creator of Checks and Opepen.
Details are limited, but we expect Velocity Pass holders to get first dibs. This final release makes the Velocity Series one of the (unexpectedly) best displays of curation I’ve seen this year, kudos to AOI.
Butcher’s one of the, if not the, top breakout artists of 2023, so I’ve…

Shadow War: Agents
Shadow War is an upcoming free-to-play web3 shooter game developed by Patriots Division, a company formed in 2021 and co-founded by crypto trader and VC Roy Blackstone (see team here).
Agents will likely be the game’s first NFT release, a collection of in-game avatars that enhance the base experience through customization options and special privileges, although details are still rolling out.
The only gameplay footage we have right now is a 7-month-old pre-alpha demo which might already have seen major changes. It looks something like a third-person-view Overwatch (very competitive genre).
