More info on Mint/Watch lists HERE.

Did you know?

We have a premium pass that gives you access to a directory of every drop we cover, complete with detailed information on how to get on every whitelist (including those underrated ones that aren’t already full).

And for those curatooors out there, you can get free NFTs just by finding drops that end up on the Mint or Watch list.

Lastly, hang with me and the MoS team in a private discord with weekly voice chats. The vibes are great.

Why is no one talking about this?

You may have heard that Azuki is selling some jpegs today that can generate as much as $38 million.

You may have also heard that Ether will be selling their own jpegs on Friday that can also make at least $10 million.

But did you know, O Dearly Beloved, that on a little-known chain called Bitcoin, there’s another drop happening on Thursday that’s expected to make $5-10 million?

The project is called Ordinal Maxi Biz.

Their genesis collection, which has a supply of just 191 inscriptions, trades for 2.8 BTC (~$85,000).

And this week they’re selling the third collection in their ecosystem: a set of 1,900 hand-drawn cryptopunk derivatives inscribed on “rare sats” from Block 9 (known as the oldest block in circulation).

The WL price is 0.09 BTC, and the public price is 0.29 BTC, or ~$9,000.

This is bending my mind more than any Christopher Nolan movie

Compared to the two anime collections, OMB gets very little chatter. And their Twitter has only been around since February of this year.

Yet it's set to make more than 99.9% of all Ethereum mints since the beginning of time.

It’s also not a one-off

Last week there was some controversy over an upcoming drop by Twitter influencer Elena. It turns out the project had stolen art, and she ended up apologizing and turning it into a free mint.

But the other surprising part to me was that, prior to the drama, she was on track to sell this collection for ~$300k.

Let me just say, we look at hundreds of drops per week. Very few established artists are making $300k from an ETH mint these days, let alone a new artist.

I could go on listing other Bitcoin drops that mint for way more than they otherwise would on Ethereum. But it’s only Tuesday and I’d rather not enrage a dozen micro communities this early in the week.

Now why is this happening?

Well you could throw some theories at the wall:

  1. Money illusion. People might feel like 0.06 BTC is “cheaper” than 1 ETH because it’s a lower face value number, even though the two are the same in USD.

  2. Bitcoin collectors. There’s a lot of money sloshing around in BTC land, and maybe we’re seeing collectors who are brand new to NFTs and willing to spend more than usual.

  3. Overbought hype train. Sometimes people get ahead of themselves with a new narrative, so maybe people are just getting caught up in the euphoria. That has never happened before in crypto and NFTs, surely not.

Either way – I think the OMB mint will be a big test

Unlike DeGods or Yuga’s Twelvefold, this would be the biggest Ordinals drop from a relatively unknown indie team.

A $5-10 million mint would grab the attention of every single NFT creator currently struggling on ETH (aka the vast majority), and could accelerate this Oregon Trail migration we’re seeing.

I’m not throwing OMB on the Mint List because of a general lack of info on its anon founder and its CryptoPunk derivative nature.

But I’m grabbing popcorn from the sidelines.

NOTE: These drops are lightly curated. Our only requirement is that they have recognizable founders. As usual, DYOR. To learn more go here.

Materialized by Andreas Gysin & Sidi Vanetti

Verse bets on physicals with its first Verse Solos exhibition, Materialized, a multi-piece work by European artist duo Andreas Gysin & Sidi Vanetti.

The pieces combine generative elements with tangible industrial objects, resulting in sleek, minimalist works that blend the physical and digital, with most physical pieces offering a proof of ownership NFT.

This release marks a notable departure from what we usually see from similar web3 art platforms, so it’ll be interesting to see if it impacts Verse and the rest of its Solos.

PSI by Mad Dog Jones

Lvcidia, an immersive 3D platform founded by Fvckrender, is partnering with digital artist Michah Dowbak (aka Mad Dog Jones) for the release of PSI.

This 175-piece collection serves as the platform's inaugural Experience, signaling its renewed focus on art releases.

Dowbak presents us with his first-ever fully 3D models: helmets designed to be enjoyed on the Lvcidia platform. Additionally, a portion of the supply includes 2D helmets, accessible only through raffles and airdrops.

Bluefruit

SuperNormal, a project which gained notoriety in 2022 thanks to Zipcy’s emotional artwork in the genesis collection, heads into Ordinals with its incubated collection Bluefruit.

It’s early days for Bluefruit. The project’s website is barebones but we can tell that this 300-supply drop will feature art by Korean artist Myeong-Minho (574k Instagram followers) and it will focus on narrative and scarcity (the latter being the norm for Ordinals these days).

serial experiments lain: Project Protocol

If you’re unfamiliar with Serial Experiments Lain, it’s a cult-classic anime from the late ’90s which was way ahead of it’s time. It explored concepts like technology addiction and depersonalization through the use of surreal imagery – it bangs, as per your Dear Writer.

Oh, and if you’re wondering, this thing’s definitely one of if not the main inspiration behind the Milady aesthetic.

Now, Project Protocol brings this cult classic onto the blockchain. Supervised by the show's original producer and supported by Japanese companies Kasagi and Anique, they present Layer 3301: De-Cipher, an immersive gaming experience accessible only by purchasing a Protocol Key. Interestingly, the key is available in both an NFT and non-NFT format (via email code), giving access to exclusive mints, events and merch down the line.

With such influential IP, let’s hope that the final mint details make sense.
