I’ve been waiting 2 years for this
The dream is to cover the most interesting digital objects, on all chains, at all times.
This is what I want, and what my Terminally Online readers deserve.
But I had to start somewhere.
So when we launched Mint or Skip, and put down the initial deposit on our luxurious penthouse office in [redacted], we decided to only launch with Ethereum, followed by Bitcoin, and then we’d play it by ear to see where onchain culture was heading next.
This meant making the tough decision of leaving out the Tezos blockchain, which was one of the pillars of the 2021 WAGMI Festival that brought many of us together in the first place (it has since lost momentum).
And even worse, it meant omitting FXHash, an open minting platform that was second only to Art Blocks in their impact on the bustling onchain gen art scene.
FXHash is the Ying to Art Blocks’ Yang.
Whereas AB became synonymous with a premium-priced, curated, and infrequent lineup of hand picked artists, FXHash opted for a fully open, self-serve model.
It became a place where artists could experiment freely, and collectors could find hidden gems at affordable prices (often just a few dollars).
And on December 1st, after exactly 24 months, FXHash is finally coming to Ethereum. ✨
(good news for us because realistically Tezos is like #1,535 on our list of chains to cover next)
It’s part of a trend
There’s been a growing shift towards more decentralized gen-art platforms on ETH lately:
Highlight launched their own self-serve platform on ETH in May.
Prohibition launched one on Arbitrum in July.
And, just yesterday, Foundation announced that curators can now partner with artists to launch gen art with their Worlds feature (again with Highlight).
These are all interesting efforts in their own right, and worth keeping an eye on.
But FXHash has serious brand equity in this space, and will likely become the second most popular destination for gen art on Ethereum shortly after launching.
They already have an impressive launch week lineup
The FXHash launch calendar is looking fun, with a bunch of artists joining in to drop new collections as part of the “2.0” pivot.
This series starts on Nov 30 and already has 45 collections set to release in the first 30 days alone, including popular artists like Casey Reas and ippsketch.
I’m expecting this list to grow further as we get closer to launch, and we plan to cover individual drops (as well as our favorites) next week.
Bottom line
Many ETH collectors still don’t realize that you can mint quality gen art for less than $10.
FXHash confirms that you can, and their move to Ethereum could spark a new wave of interest from people who have felt gated on AB.
I give this event two popcorn emojis.

NOTE: These drops are lightly curated. Our only requirement is that they have recognizable founders. As usual, DYOR. To learn more go here.
“Untitled (Sauna)” by Mind Wank
Since our initial coverage of Fellowship’s daily.xyz almost three months ago, the curating platform has gone on to sell more than 500 AI art pieces, processing hundreds of ETH in bids.
Today, they kick things up a notch with the first solo show in this initiative, featuring 11 bizarre (and/or deranged) and steamy AI videos from pseudonymous artist Mind Wank, one of the most prolific artists on the platform with 29 pieces sold so far.
One for AI and Sauna aficionados- a booming Venn diagram overlap, surely.
“Elevate Heart” by Daniel Calderon Arenas
One of the first-ever Art Blocks artists, Daniel Calderon Arias (a.k.a. DCA), makes his first release this year with Elevate Heart.
It’s a collaboration with SquiggleDAO and the artist’s brother (also the creator of Art Blocks himself), Snowfro, marking the third anniversary of their inaugural NFT collections, Genesis and Squiggles.
The art makes use of stick figures in a decidedly lighthearted and positive way, a nice change of pace from the usual seriousness of generative art collections.
“12 Days of Art” by Rich Caldwell
Award-winning aerial photographer Rich Caldwell teams up with a bunch of popular artists for the second edition of 12 Days of Art.
It’ll feature a total of 24 artist collaborations based on Caldwell’s aerial art, including some with artists you might already know like Ben Strauss, Ryan Anderson and 0009.eth.
