Hyped about this onchain survivor game
Context
Crypto: The Game (CTG) announced that its Season 2 campaign is launching on April 2 and they’re now accepting wallets for the presale.
This popular social game has players compete onchain for a grand prize (more info below). But unlike Season 1, this time players will join by buying an NFT, which means they can sell their spot in the game at any point.
Our take
Here’s a prediction: One day, perhaps closer than you think, Mr. Beast will launch a massive multiplayer experience with all the usual features he’s known for (huge cash prizes, viral hooks, etc), except for one major difference…
It’s going to be onchain.
I have zero evidence to support this prediction, and I won’t be taking any further questions at this time.
But if you want to get a glimpse of what this might look like, you just need to study CTG.
I’ll admit, when I first saw CTG on my desk a few months ago, I felt nothing.
There’s no shortage of low-tier puzzlemasters in this space concocting incredibly convoluted experiences that flop because (imagine this) no one loves sitting around doing sudokus as much as they do.
And in this case, nothing jumped out at a glance. The name sounds like something I would come up with in middle school while handing in a last-minute creative writing assignment, the visual red/black branding is forgettable, overall pretty meh.
But at the end of the day, none of that really matters. The only important thing is: Is it fun?
And based on the reviews from Season 1’s participants, many of whom you might recognize if you spend time on crypto Twitter, the answer seems to be a resounding ‘OH GOD YES’.
I mean look at these glowing yelp style reviews:

Now we don’t know much about Season 2 yet, but Season 1 basically worked like a terminally online version of Survivor:
410 people paid 0.1 ETH to join
They connected their X profiles for more social gameplay
Players were divided into tribes and voted each other off over 10 days
You got immunity by winning mini-games or referring other players
The winner got the full 41 ETH prize (minus 10% for the team)
Last thing, with a name like Crypto: The Game you’d think this would be akin to entering shark-infested waters where only the most depraved players have a shot at winning.
But apparently last season’s winner was a Tokyo-based participant who stole people’s hearts by writing poems about them throughout the entire experience. That’s amazing.
Bottom line
If this sounds familiar, it’s because Natives by Nate Alex (which we covered last week) is launching with a similar tribe vs tribe social experience.
I’m signing up for both, time permitting, and fully welcome this new wave of onchain spectacles.

NOTE: These drops are lightly curated. Our only requirement is that they have recognizable founders. As usual, DYOR. To learn more go here.
Blue Hour Adventures by Cath Simard
This might be the first children’s book NFT to ever hit my desk, and it’s from Cath Simard, one of the most intrepid artists out there.
Inspired by a recent 8-day expedition to a hidden Tasmanian lake, the release comprises two NFTs: an otherworldly photograph of the lake and a cover of the children’s book based on the journey.
Holders will be able to claim a physical counterpart for both post-mint (you get the full book and not just the cover).
A drop with fun for the whole family.
NEW YORK NOW
An AI-fueled celebration is happening during NFT NYC with NEW YORK NOW, one of the biggest crypto-native AI art shows in recent memory.
Hosted by MAIF, a collective founded by pseudonymous artist ClownVamp, NEW YORK NOW is an east-coast follow-up to last year’s DEEP FAKE.
This time we’ll get art from RedruM, Str4ngeThing, DeltaSauce and 47 others dropping on the Base L2 via ten 1/1 auctions and 40 editions.
Ghostface Killah Ordinals Drop
Following French Montana’s recent Ordinals excursion, it’s another big week for those in the (Bitcoin<>Rap Music) Venn diagram, as now we’ve got Wu-Tang Clan’s Ghostface Killah jumping into the mix with a free music drop.
Drop partners include Bitcoin OG Rare Scrilla, who currently has a drop in our Top 25, and pepe-pilled PFP project Nakamotos on BTC, founded in early 2023 by Rare Pepe community members.
Too many details are still missing for me to be excited about an impromptu celebrity drop, but at least the possibility of this being a grift is massively lowered given the low price of free.
