GM
Welcome to the 6 new people who subbed yesterday.
My heart fluttered with joy seeing all those new sub alerts.
And yes - partly because of my ventricular arrhythmia, but also because you guys are awesome.
In today’s edition:

The most hyped NFT game is back
I’ve heard it once said:
When you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires
Will come to you
And so, laying before the altar of the NFT gods, I have but a simple wish: may we receive at least ONE (1) onchain game that is well-designed, sustainable, and, wait for it…fun.
Today we’ll get a major update from a top contender.
Deadrop
Maybe the most high-profile upcoming Web 3 game, Deadrop is an extraction shooter from Dr. Disrespect and his Midnight Society studio.
Quick context: An extraction shooter is when players enter a large map and attempt to collect loot from each other or designated loot points. Getting killed often means losing a portion (or all) of the loot you collected or brought into the map.
It’s the type of game that, you would think, fits perfectly with valuable on-chain assets. As Dr. Disrespect puts it:
Imagine trying to ‘extract’ with an item you discovered worth $100,000 on the chain.
Think about entertainment value as a viewer let alone player.
A new pvp experience is upon us…
The counter to this is “imagine the bots”
Anyone who plays online can tell you that this is already a problem when virtually nothing is on the line, let alone six-figure airdrops.
They claim to have a strategy for solving this, but chances are we’ll see a prolonged cat and mouse game.
So far Deadrop’s marketing has been centered around events called Snapshots, which are basically pre-alpha updates introducing new gameplay features.
Snapshot VI comes out later today at 6 PM ET
It’s their first Snapshot since March and brings AI players and a new “currency” system which could have some new blockchain integrations.
Players can join Snapshots by buying a non-tradeable Tower Key, or a tradeable Founders Pass NFT.
The plan is to keep two parallel tracks for players: one that uses wallets and blockchain assets, and another that runs in a fully centralized account (with the option to later migrate to NFTs).
Now if you do go for the Founders Pass, you’ll also eventually get early access to the Industry Pass, which gives holders a chance to take ownership in the “manufacturing economy” for in-game items and weapons.
Not sure I fully understand how that’ll work, but it does have me feeling some kind of way.
For now, expect a bunch of livestreams, including an official one from Dr. Disrespect, and some renewed excitement around the latest update.
NOTE: These drops are lightly curated. Our only requirement is that they have recognizable founders. As usual, DYOR. To learn more go here.
AGAINST// by FVCKRENDER
Noble Gallery, an art platform founded in May 2022 by esteemed collectors Artifaction and Matt Szczur, will host the release of AGAINST// from Canadian artist FVCKRENDER.
The work showcases FVCKRENDER’s signature 3D art style, unusual B&W tones and typical motifs seen in the artist’s previous work.
Like most of Noble’s drops, the work is a low-supply limited edition (65 pieces in this case), with holders of the LET’S PLAY card receiving the largest allocation via a raffle.
Winds of Yawanawa by Refik Anadol
An AI gen art drop from a Turkish-American artist, in collaboration with a Brazilian Amazon tribe, hosted on a Greek platform. United Nations type beat.
Formally announced just hours ago, Winds of Yawanawa is the next work from Refik Anadol, a 1,000-supply cultural collaboration with the Yawanawa tribe, which will have a 50-piece presale on the Scorpios platform starting at 2 PM ET today.
Official launch details are still unclear: the Twitter reveal video shows a July 13th date while the Scorpios website shows an August 13th art reveal date.
Guess it’s time to turn on notifications (and hit the bell and subscribe) if you’re interested.
Stored Memories by Bryan Brinkman
Tomorrow, contemporary art gallery Unit London will host the solo exhibition Stored Memories, a series of short animations by acclaimed web3 artist Bryan Brinkman.
In it Brinkman has composed playful animated sketches that touch on technology’s impact on human memory. The collection will have 3 low-supply digital editions with one including a physical component.
The scope of the work and the OG stature of the artist has piqued my interest, so I’ve…

Bright by Heeey
If you’re looking for some neon artwork to put up on your spicy new digital display, this could be it.
Pseudonymous artist Heeey (how’s that for an SEO-friendly pseudonym huh?) has just a couple of lowkey 2021 projects under their belt, but made a bit of a name for themselves during the past year by endlessly curating outputs from Tyler Hobbs’s QQL.
Now even the generative art senpai has taken notice, as Heeey will be making their Art Blocks debut this August with Bright, a 360-supply minimalistic exploration of lights and colors that seems simple but pleases the eye.
