Our favorite NFT game has a new drop

Context

Parallel, a popular NFT trading card game, announced that the pre-sale for their anticipated Planetfall expansion will begin on October 28th.

This is the first major expansion to the game, which first began selling cards back in 2021.

We still don’t know the pricing or supply. But for some context, the last major drop in January had 8,000 packs (10 cards each) priced at 0.19 ETH per pack.

Our take

Heads up – we kinda like Parallel (one of us is even a top 25 player).

And it’s not just us. I can’t think of any other onchain game that’s received this much praise for, specifically, its gameplay (then again most of these games are little more than trailers and discord announcements).

Now at some point, I can see this turning into the kind of game that’s difficult for new players to get into due to the overwhelming card library and defined metas.

But the good news is that we’re not there yet.

Parallel is still in closed beta, and cardholders only just crossed 60,000 wallets, which is about 0.1% of total Magic The Gathering players.

So if you were looking for a time to jump in, this is still a great moment.

The Planetfall expansion will bring Parallel into a new phase, and it may coincide with a move into Open Beta (or even full release?).

It’s also supposed to have “Tolkien-level depth” – which sounds simultaneously exciting and exhausting.

Keep in mind that you only need to buy NFTs if you want tradable assets, not to play. Parallel has both a Web3 and a Web2 track, and you can enjoy the full gameplay without going onchain.

NOTE: These drops are lightly curated. Our only requirement is that they have recognizable founders. As usual, DYOR. To learn more go here.

dgb & frens

Another example of the onchain curation boom I mentioned yesterday.

Pseudonymous artist 0xdgb dons his curator hat in dgb & frens, a Foundation Worlds release celebrating the anniversary of his first sale.

It’ll feature new 1/1 works from twenty artists (some yet to be unveiled), including some you might already know like Amber Vittoria, Dylan Wade, Tex and Timboslice.

LVCIDIA Experiences 005 & 006

FVCKRENDER’s art platform LVCIDIA promises bigger and more exciting things as they postpone the launch of their 5th and 6th art experiences to December.

Details around the releases are still scant, but you can get updates by signing up here.

Legend of the Haunted Vault

Spooky szn is underway in Pokémon land.

As they teased last week, Courtyard.io is back with another tokenized card drop with the 500-supply Legend of the Haunted Vault.

The rules remain the same. Each pack contains one random card that you can trade unrevealed for the first 24 hours. It’s backed 1:1 by a physical vaulted card, redeemable at any time.
