This cult favorite NFT is falling apart
Context
Drama!
The founder of Milady Maker (@charlottefang) is suing team members for allegedly hijacking the project’s social media accounts and siphoning almost $1 million from the project’s treasury.
The team members in question denied any wrongdoing and claimed that the founder cheated them out of equity after originally promising them co-founder status.
Now it’ll go to the courts.
In the meantime, the Bonkler daily mints have been paused.
Our take
Milady Maker was supposed to be different.
Just take these phrases that they’ve used to describe themselves:
a spontaneous robustly decentralized & sustainably self-financialized digital tribe soft cult
a covert payload for remilia network spirituality in a dripped out neochibi package
You can sort of see why it has the cult following that it does.
But here’s a phrase that doesn’t quite have the same vibe:
You’ve been served by the United States District Court of Nevada.
The illusion feels shattered. Nothing takes the air out of that cooler-than-thou indifference quite like workplace interpersonal conflicts and corporate lawsuits.
Now the project is spiraling. Two weeks ago, Miladies was the third most expensive 10k PFP collection. Since then their price has dropped 40% and the team is at risk of fully disbanding.
Final thoughts
In NFTs, you gotta choose one:
an anti-fragile decentralized meme
active founders/artists
You can’t have both, as we learned today.
NOTE: These drops are lightly curated. Our only requirement is that they have recognizable founders. As usual, DYOR. To learn more go here.
Killer Acid Frogs by Killer Acid
The internet’s most beloved frog gets high in the next Chain/Saw drop by Killer Acid, which will feature Killer Acid Frogs as a limited edition of 30 pieces and two 1/1 auctions.
This will be Pepe’s first appearance in the KillerAcid.fun collection, which launched in March of this year.
One for substance-aligned Pepe enjoyers.
Court Date by Rich Caldwell
Wanna hoop?
Award-winning aerial photographer Rich Caldwell is dropping a Nifty Gateway Curated collection, Court Date, a love letter to basketball courts.
It’ll include six artworks with different sales mechanics – including auctions, open editions and random draws.
The Orders by Marco Brambilla
You too can become a member of the Illuminati with Marco Brambilla’s collection, The Orders, hosted on Artwrld.
This freemason-themed collection from the museum-exhibited artist follows standard cult rules by offering different tiers of art, like an accessible open edition and more exclusive 1/1s.
One for the NFT cabal enthusiast.
Perkwerk x Velocity Pass
Norwegian artist Per Kristian Stoveland, a.k.a. perkwerk, has become a fan favorite among generative art collectors this year, largely due to his AB Curated collection The Harvest.
He followed up with a PROOF edition release in August, and his next big long-form collection should be this Velocity Pass drop coming later this month.
We knew about this before Velocity Passes minted (you’ll need those to mint), but now we know this’ll be a 200-supply collection.
We still don’t know pricing, but a lot of the sneak peeks look absurdly pleasing in your Dear Writer’s opinion so I’ve…
