Here come the Deepfakes

Plus, the deep-fried king returns

GM

Quick announcement.

We're moving to a 3x/week release cadence instead of daily.

So going forward we'll be in your inbox Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

This'll give us more time to work on a few things that we've been wanting to add, like better memecoin coverage and more live auctions.

Plus I can finally make it to taco tuesday brunch, which is nice.

DUCK by Rachel Maclean

  • Blockchain: Ethereum

And so it begins. Fellowship – perhaps the top AI art gallery – is releasing its first-ever Deepfake collection.

DUCK is a series of 20 short video clips, most less than 30 seconds long, containing eerie sequences with Deepfaked celebrities from the 20th century (like Marilyn Monroe, JFK, and James Bond actors).

In one scene that stuck with me, Pierce Brosnan turns to Sean Connery (both dressed like James Bond) and says “Relax – none of this is real” as they peacefully drive off a cliff.

It’s far from perfect, and the voices sound strained, but it’s a fun early example of where we’re heading — AI-driven, choose-your-own-adventure storytelling.

Btw this is all legal (for now), although the debates around AI and Deepfake regulation are only just beginning.

Mass by James Bloom

  • Price: 0.25 ETH

  • Supply: 300

  • Mint Date: May 15

  • Blockchain: Ethereum

Ever felt the desire to buy an NFT that tracked and displayed your every onchain action to the public? If so here’s this upcoming generative project by artist James Bloom!

Underneath the dystopian surveillance vibes lies an interesting, experimental collection where holders’ onchain actions alter the art.

So yeah, this project is continuously scanning your wallet and announcing to the world that yes, you did buy that morally dubious shitcoin with real money, but it does so in a way that’s obfuscated behind the abstract generative art.

Pretty cool in my opinion, and a fitting follow-up to Bloom’s GOLD collection from last year, which proved popular with collectors.

  • Supply: TBD

  • Mint Date: May 30

diewiththemostlikes (DWTML), an artist that needs no introduction for active NFT art collectors, will be the first to kick off season 2 of the glitch Marfa gallery with this drop.

While season 1 of the gallery’s program (e30d) focused on existing notable works, they’re changing it up with this new series, having resident artists produce brand new work over 30-day periods, be it a long-form collection, a 1/1, or an edition.

DWTML will be the first resident this May. And while we don’t have any art sneak peeks yet, we can probably expect more of his iconic, deep-fried, all-American fever dream doodles.

Or as he would put it, good meat.
