September drops I’m watching closely

Presenting: Every drop on our Mint or Watch List releasing in September…

The Logos by Blitmap

Early September – @blitmap

A free PFP expansion for the Blitmap ecosystem.

Not sure what to think. Bitmap is one of the oldest NFT projects around, and founder Dom Hoffman is one of the most well-respected people in the space.

On paper, this should be great.

But Dom seems to be working on some unrelated things now, and the marketing around this drop feels coy, with some announcements being locked behind a token-gated discord.

Is the passion still there?

Diary by Vinnie Hager

September 7@vinniehager

A generative open edition from popular American artist Vinnie Hager, best known for his 2021 collection Letters.

The works are based on 100 physical drawings that chronicle his evolution as an artist over the last seven years.

The most exciting part: the original 100 drawings are included as 1/1s and will come with a physical claim as well. Vinnie explains his emotional connection to these here.

Distance by William Mapan

September 12@williamapan

The fifth drop in the ongoing Cactoid Labs x LACMA collaboration.

This is an impressive display of code-producing textured paint with complex color palettes.

Some are calling it Mapan’s most “ambitious” work so far, and the artist himself claimed he made “technical and artistic breakthroughs” during the process.

Yesterday we got some more info on this collection including supply (250 NFTs) and a date (September 12).

I’m Feeling Lucky by Maya Man

September 14@mayaonthenet

Are you into internet native pop art? Well then, come on down.

This upcoming solo Verse exhibit is a generative collection that plays with words and designs exploring online horoscope culture.

If you liked her 2022 collection FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT, then this one will probably also be up your alley.

Fewoworld

September 26@fewoworld

This PFP collection from Fewocious has been in the works for a long time. It originally had a launch date in August before getting pushed to late September.

I’m a fan of basically everything that’s come out of this project:

  • Creative worldbuilding

  • Unique and colorful art

  • Cutting-edge tech (we describe this more here)

But many collectors have cooled on this brand due to an ongoing controversy with the artist.

And this is especially important given that Fewoworld relies heavily on collabs.

So, it’s a weird situation.

Untitled by 0xDeafbeef

September TBD@_deafbeef

Later this year, collectors will travel to a minting ceremony in Patagonia to claim physical talismans that come with dynamic NFTs set to evolve over the next decade.

You know, normal 0xDeafbeef stuff.

The actual mint will be in November, but collectors will be buying their passes later this month.

We expect this to be a pricey low-supply drop, but we’re big fans of the experimentation.

Glacier Dreams by Refik Anadol

September TBD@refikanadol

Refik Anadol is on fire.

He’s one of the most popular AI artists in the trad art world and is coming off of another highly successful NFT drop with Winds of Yawanana.

Glacier Dreams is his most anticipated upcoming collection. It’s been delayed before, but it looks like maybe (just maybe) it’s finally coming out in September.

Sugartown Oras by Zynga

Maybe September@visitsugartown

Zynga is officially the largest gaming publisher actively building an NFT project. That alone makes this a big deal.

But we haven’t seen much else to get us super excited. The art feels like a throwback to the 2021 PFP meta, and so do the mechanics, both of which we covered here.

Then again, it’s free, and it’s Zynga.

Btw they’re taking their final snapshot for the whitelist today, so it’s your last chance to sign up.

NOTE: These drops are lightly curated. Our only requirement is that they have recognizable founders. As usual, DYOR. To learn more go here.

Uptrip

Lufthansa, the second largest European airline, joins the packed ranks of big legacy brands releasing NFTs on Polygon as they launch Uptrip, a loyalty rewards program featuring NFT trading cards.

To get started and receive a free complimentary trading card, download the mobile app and sign up. You can acquire more of these by traveling with the airline and scanning your boarding passes with the app.

Once you’ve completed one of their 20+ card sets, you can redeem a reward (e.g. lounge access, free wifi, etc).

An in-app trading marketplace is coming soon, which might make things a little more interesting.

ClownVamp x BrainDrops

ClownVamp, an emerging AI artist who recently sold almost 11 ETH worth of 1/1 art in June with the Chester Charles collection, will soon debut on BrainDrops, a platform that’s also running hot after selling out the Mappings collection by Ira Greenberg yesterday.

Mint details are scant, but I’ve enjoyed ClownVamp’s recent work. Couple that with the trajectory of both the artist and the platform and I’ve pre-emptively…

Added to Watchlist

Verse Solo by William Mapan

William Mapan, one of the most sought-after artists in the generative space right now, will make his Verse debut this October with a currently untitled collection.

I’ve known about this one for a while (it was originally announced in May), but now we’re finally seeing more sneak peeks float around, showing a distinct hand-drawn style.

Curiously, a Mapan 1/1 titled Bestiaire: Flamant Rose recently sold at Christie’s for 15.069 ETH to none other than renowned collector VincentVanDough, and it looks like it’s from the same algorithm. Could the upcoming collection be titled Bestiaire?
