This NFT takes you back to the 90s

Welcome to the latest edition of our Magic Loot Bus series.

Join us as we step away from the tourist traps and explore all the onchain cantinas, underground flea markets, quantum arcades and dark alley amusements.

Why? Because it’s fun to double down on weird shit. Plus you never know, sometimes there’s alpha in those side-quests.

Do you want to feel something?

I’m happy I live in a world where I get to highlight art made by someone called Sgt Slaughtermelon.

It’s a great name, and they’ve put together a great website.

Let yourself be immersed in this nostalgic sensory experience.

The music, the 90s web themes, the dynamic “gloom” score, the unwelcome introspection, the easter eggs, the choose-your-own-adventure layout.

It’s all a vibe.

Each page also turns into its own mint, and there are already over 2,000 NFTs collected since launching yesterday.

One for the cold hearts that haven’t felt something since Y2K.

Del Complex

Sterling Crispin is a very real AI researcher (and crypto artist).

But now he’s working at “Del Company”, which seems to be a very fake AI research company.

In fact, everything from the website, to the tweets, to the linkedin page, all look like a well-mapped-out corporate deepfake.

The website also has mints tied to “information disclosures” and a form you can fill out to acquire a visitor pass (which seems to unlock some parts of the website).

It reminds us of the Alternate Reality Games that used to show up online – anyone remember Cloverfield? These might have a comeback now that a single person can run an entire storyline with chatGPT and Midjourney.

So where does Del Complex go from here?

~ do they create an AGI?

~ do they go rogue?

Idk, I’m just a bus driver.

Sterling has had success with other weird onchain projects in the past (wiiides comes to mind), and this one could be fun for anyone who likes mysterious storylines that unfold in real-time.

Dossiers

Another week, another cool ERC-6551 project.

This time, Cat Russell is using this new standard to worldbuild a mystery story in a fictional hotel.

Five Dossiers will be auctioned tomorrow (October 18th), with each file acting as a 6551 token that includes other NFTs inside.

Each comes with:

  1. An onchain 1-of-1 from a collab artist (e.g. 0xdiid)

  2. A story by Luca Ponsato (plus a physical hand-typed copy)

  3. Physical prints of all 5 collab art pieces

  4. Physical hand-typed copies of Luca’s story

  5. Physical Hotel keycard with NFC tag and NFT pair

NOTE: These drops are lightly curated. Our only requirement is that they have recognizable founders. As usual, DYOR. To learn more go here.

6529 Meme Card #154 by prguitarman

It might seem a bit of a travesty that prolific NFT artist and creator of Nyan Cat (one of the most OG internet memes ever) hasn’t yet featured on 6529’s The Memes.

This changes on Friday when Chris Torres, a.k.a. prguitarman, finally makes it on the platform. As usual, the release follows the 6529 allowlist model, determined by collector holdings.

There are few artists who have prguitarman’s memetic track record, so I’ve…

reGEN by Art Blocks & TheGivingBlock

Cleanse your soul of your degenerate ways, anon, and give in to your charitable side with reGEN, an Art Blocks Presents exhibition supporting the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund (50-100% of profits donated).

Daily auctions over the course of five days feature artists you might already know from Art Blocks and other platforms: Melissa Wiederrecht, Sputniko!, Nat Sarkissian, Robert Hodgin, and Marcelo Soria-Rodríguez (probably my personal favorite).

One for the philanthropic collector.

ni aqui ni allá by Thomas Trail

As part of the Bright Moments Buenos Aires event, Argentine-American film director Thomas Trail reimagines the streets of Buenos Aires in this upcoming collection.

Although this artist is relatively new to NFTs, his AI video work is some of the best I’ve seen recently, so I’m curious to get a look at the full collection.

Perpetuals: Volume 1 – Beginnings

It’s no secret that attention for Bitcoin Ordinals has fallen off a cliff since last May’s peak, but that isn’t stopping the Quadrillion platform from debuting its Perpetuals art release.

Co-founded by BitGod, a prominent Ordinals influencer known for creating the BRC-20 token $OXBT, the platform’s first release will have 21 established artists debut on Bitcoin Ordinals.

I’ve only spotted RENGA creator Dirty Robot in the sneak peeks so far. If more artists of similar caliber are involved (keep in mind daily art reveals started yesterday), this might be one to watch.
