Our take

O Dearly Beloved, it won’t be long before you’re reading my eloquent prose from inside of a Vision Pro, or some other all-encompassing VR device.

Perhaps at that point I’ll have an AI twin sitting in front of you reading my words out loud as digital objects sprout around us.

And we’ll laugh remembering the days when I tried to describe immersive 3D NFTs to you via incredibly flat 2D email formats.

“How did we ever live like that?” you’ll say.

I might as well have been writing to you on papyrus scrolls.

Anyway, we’re not there yet, and this is one of those days where I’m really feeling the limitations of communications technology in the year 2024.

So, a caveat: I’ll describe this collection to you briefly, but to get the full effect you must view it yourself, on as big a screen as you can.

What is Memories?

A set of immersive 3D video artworks where you glide through space inhabited by flowing Van Gogh-like brushstrokes.

It’s a mesmerizing effect accomplished through point clouds, which are used to map real-world spaces to digital realms. Like this 3D room that you can rotate and examine from different angles:

Bardou is taking this practice, tweaking it with AI to add more dynamic movement, and applying it to paintings.

I take it that he’s asking:

What might it be like to take a peaceful stroll inside of a painting?

What about a memory of a painting?

What would it feel like to be, literally, inside of Van Gogh’s imagination as he’s making art?

I’m not sure, but I think Bardou gets us pretty close.

NOTE: These drops are lightly curated. Our only requirement is that they have recognizable founders. As usual, DYOR. To learn more go here.

Deluge by Chepertom

French artist Thomas Collet, a.k.a. Chepertom, conjures glitch art tsunamis scheduled to hit Verse shores next week.

This one’s for abstract purists who like colors, lines and waves smashed through distortion resulting in composed chaos.

It’s a style Collet has been honing for a while, and collectors like it. Lots of mint details are still missing but I’ve tentatively…

Evil Ord

Another week, another Ethereum-based project jumps on the Ordinals train as Gangster All Star (GAS) announces Evil Ord.

This upcoming mint aims to further develop the project’s anime-styled IP, which was founded by Thai artist DUANG a few years ago and has since gone on to release merch and manga.

The collection will focus on Mr. Orange, a main character in GAS’s story who was introduced as early as 2021.

Not much in the way of mint details yet, but we’ve seen how feral Ordinal collectors can get for anime.
