Context

The World’s Largest, a new studio that’s calling itself the MSCHF of Web3, came out of stealth mode last week and announced its first drop.

Here’s what we know:

  • 24-hour open edition

  • Mint date: October 3rd

  • It’s launching on Base (ETH layer 2)

  • It’ll be the first of many

  • Still waiting on the mint link

Separately, they’re releasing a free limited-edition “genesis” collection in Q1 2024.

Our take

MSCHF is easily one of my favorite internet brands.

They’re a mix between an art collective and a fashion company that’s known for releasing irreverent products that go viral way too many times to call it luck.

You may have seen their Big Red Boots:

Or that one time they had people running around NYC stealing real cars from each other:

So when someone says they’re trying to build another MSCHF, it kinda gets me going.

What’s “The World’s Largest”?

This is a new onchain drop studio launched by a former Mirror lead engineer, Patrick Rivera, and a popular NFT content creator, Lamboland.

So far all we really know is that they have a weird name, an even weirder website and one of their taglines is “we will make you feel uncomfortable (it’s worth it)”.

The plan seems simple enough: launch mints, experiences, games and other products every few weeks.

These will all likely be one-off drops, similar to MSCHF, but I’m guessing there may be a meta layer that connects them all together in some way.

It all leads up to their Genesis NFT early next year. They’re calling that one a “factory NFT”, which is code for a pass that comes with perks and airdrops from future releases.

Bottom line

There’s an up-and-coming genre that we think will eventually dominate the NFT airwaves.

We call them Onchain Spectacles.

These are limited-time experiences designed to go viral. Sometimes they look like collaborative art projects, other times they’re gamified high-stakes tournaments or traditional game shows.

But they all shift the value to the present moment instead of some far-off roadmap.

In other words, it’s entertainment, which is something this space sorely lacks right now.

I think the team behind The World’s Largest sees this coming, and it’ll be fun watching them cook.

NOTE: These drops are lightly curated. Our only requirement is that they have recognizable founders. As usual, DYOR. To learn more go here.

Anti-crash by Scerbo

A glitch and photography fusion will drape Verse’s virtual halls tomorrow as Italian artist Scerbo makes his debut on the fast-growing platform with the 10-supply Anti-crash, curated by fakewhale.

Pictures of people in diverse outdoor scenes meld with digital chaos as they get rearranged into abstract compositions where human bodies can no longer be discerned. I’m digging it.

6529 Meme Card #151: Killer Acid

This Friday, trippy doodles make their way to 6529’s Meme Cards as the platform hosts popular artist Killer Acid, who recently sold a couple of 1/1s last week.

As usual, the release follows the 6529 allowlist model determined by collector holdings (example here).

The Vault

Just two days after launching the not-yet-sold-out Horizons collection featuring 10 artists, the HODLERS collective keep their foot on the gas by announcing an even bigger drop, The Vault.

Season 1 of this upcoming weekly series of limited editions will showcase artists from many genres, some of whom you might already know:

Figments by Amber Vittoria

Multimedia artist Amber Vittoria, frequent collaborator with influential brands, will release her first solo generative project, Figments, showcasing her usual colorful compositions through a new lens.

Dropping on Highlight.
