We made something

Whispers of a prophecy

An ancient spirit that brings great power to anyone who can control it

Set to appear on an unremarkable piece of land known as Zorg Island

Now, thousands are preparing to travel to this island to witness…

・゚THE SUMMONING ・゚

What’s The Summoning?

A 12-hour multiplayer game where players burn spells to acquire rare spirit NFTs.

How it works

We built a mini-game with continuous 1-minute rounds tied to Base’s real block times.

Each round ends with a 2-second window where people can Summon a spirit by casting a spell (burning an NFT).

This 2-second Summoning window is how you get each of the four available spirits (NFTs).

  1. The Loyal Disciple. Airdropped to anyone who casts a spell in the 2-second window (and doesn’t win a Paladin).

  2. The Paladin Spirit. Summoned only once per round. If multiple people successfully cast a spell in a given round, a winner is chosen randomly.

  3. The Merchant Spirit. Airdropped to anyone who summons at least 2 Paladin Spirits (not easy).

  4. The Giga Spirit. A 1/1 Spirit summoned once in the game (randomly) instead of a Paladin. The game ends when the Giga Spirit comes out.

There’s also a bit of game theory here.

Do you burn quickly, in case the Giga Spirit comes out early?

Or wait until the supply goes down (from people burning) to give yourself a better chance of winning rounds later on?

The Spectacle

The entire event will be livestreamed on X and YouTube.

Every minute there’s a live reveal to see (1) who won the Paladin, and (2) whether the Paladin or Giga Spirit came out.

The Mint Details

The mint is on ETH but the NFTs are delivered on Base, where The Summoning takes place.

WL includes Prometheans tippers, Mint or Skip, Midnight Labs, and Artlab.

NOTE: These drops are lightly curated. Our only requirement is that they have recognizable founders. As usual, DYOR. To learn more go here.

1 of ? by Jack Butcher

This open edition from popular artist Jack Butcher is donating all platform fees to St. Jude Children's hospital.

It’s accompanied by two 1/1s — a Sotheby’s 1/1 auctioning today, and a physical 1/1 that Butcher will hand-sign an equal number of times to the final count of editions minted.

So you’d not only be saving the children, but also giving an NFT creator some actual manual labor (rare).

This dropped yesterday, but there are still some up for grabs if you’re gazing upon these musings hot off the digital presses.

Prohibition Daily

The gen art landscape looks bleaker now than when Prohibition launched last year (not bussin’, fr fr), but this hasn’t stopped the art platform from building as it unveils this new daily program on Base.

It’s a simple concept — every day there will be new affordable gen art drops, starting this Thursday with a $3 mint from Amber Vittoria.

This feels similar to Fellowship’s daily.xyz, which I approve of, considering it’s one of the best performing platforms of the past year.

Mechanics may appeal to a different crowd though. Prohibition will use editions instead of 1/1s, feature a gamified points system, and integrate with Farcaster.

Derivatives

This is the inaugural drop from Genie, a new platform founded by artist Orkhan Mammadov.

Genie’s raison d'etre is to push for ethical generative AI art creation, and Derivatives sees this realized as 9 artists willingly upload their past work to Genie’s algorithmic AI lamp for it to spit out synthetic, copyright-enforced creations in their likeness, which will mint on Base.

The lineup looks pretty stacked, with names like Jake Fried, Timpers, and OSF among the creators.

I like the experimentation.
