July's most hyped drops

Plus, Reddit returns

GM

The market was down bad this weekend. At some point it won't be down anymore, and then it will again, and then it won't again.

I'll just continue to do what I always do: find and highlight upcoming NFTs.

Just like my father did, and his father before him, and his father before him.

In today’s edition:

  • July's most hyped drops

  • Updated rankings

  • Four new drops

More info on Mint/Watch lists HERE.

Did you know?

We have a premium pass that gives you access to a directory of every drop we cover, complete with detailed information on how to get on every whitelist (including those underrated ones that aren’t already full).

And for those curatooors out there, you can get free NFTs just by finding drops that end up on the Mint or Watch list.

Lastly, hang with me and the MoS team in a private discord with weekly voice chats. The vibes are great.

July's most hyped drops

Dimensionals – Eve PFP

July 6

Dimensionals is our most anticipated web3 gaming drop of the month.

A free collection of 2,000 Pokemon-style NFTs called Eves that give you in-game benefits.

The real hype comes from Dimensionals’ upcoming Alpha Trials: basically live-streamed game-show tournaments with NFT prizes.

Eves give you access to the tournaments, and given how sleepy the NFT space is right now, these could get a decent amount of attention.

Parallel Avatars

July 6th

Parallel is one of the best-selling NFT projects ever and an OG web3 trading card game.

Now they’re launching a PFP avatar collection – and I know that sounds unoriginal.

But there’s more to it. They’re incorporating AI and the latest ERC-6551 standard, which lets NFTs own other NFTs.

The end goal is an AI agent with its own wallet in an autonomous world. And as far as I know, it’s the first of its kind.

Whitelist mints on July 6th while public mint is set for July 11th. Avatars can also be earned by playing the beta later in the month.

Acceptable Realities by Fellowship

July 10

I think we’ll look at 2023 as the year that AI art really began to take off.

One of my favorite recent AI drops was Fellowship’s first Post-Photographic Perspectives back in April. You really have to check out the collection yourself to see just how bizarre and dreamlike some of the visuals can be.

The second installment is launching on July 10 and will include AI Video NFTs as well, which I think is another category primed to gain attention in the coming months.

Todem by Salavon

Early July

One of the more unique drops we’ve found recently.

Todem is the largest gif ever created – a massive tapestry made up of 1,000 1/1 NFTs with generative AI visuals and text prompts.

These NFTs also come with add-ons like physical prints or even large-screen monitors to display their tiles (exclusive for the Class A tier).

Roughly half of the NFTs were sold during an alpha trial last month, but Todem’s official launch will come with a revamped website and some other “very good news” that’s set to be announced.

Garbage Friends

July 17

This drop by Markus Magnusson is in an interesting place.

On one hand, you could say this is a remnant of the 2021 PFP genre, which is currently having its worst moment in two years.

On the other hand, it’s closer to an art drop than a BAYC style PFP – there is no roadmap, no attempts at turning this into a fashion or lifestyle brand, no Netflix deals in the works.

We view it simply as cool limited edition 2D art at a reasonable price (0.05 ETH for WL), by an artist with a cult following.

10KTF PFP

Mid July

10KTF is a long-running narrative project owned by Yuga Labs and with ties to Beeple.

They’re finally launching a PFP – which, admittedly, is a word many people might not want to hear right now.

But 10KTF still has a loyal following, and they absolutely have the resources to do something unexpected.

To participate in their Battle Town 2.0 story-based social game, and eventually the PFP mint, you’ll need to buy a 10KTF G-tag (currently selling for roughly 0.3 ETH).

Themes and Variations by Vera Molnár

July 26

The big news in the crypto art world last week was the Sotheby’s Generative Art Program.

Here you have one of the two biggest auction houses in the art world doubling down on NFTs with their own version of Art Blocks.

For their first drop, they’re partnering with Vera Molnár, a legend and pioneer of generative art who has been experimenting with computer graphics since the 60s.

It’s a big moment for gen art.

Quasi Dragons by Harvey Rayner

Late July

Harvey Rayner, the creator behind the popular Art Blocks collection Fontana, is now launching Quasi Dragons on Verse, a collection 15 years in the making.

The drop features an innovative concept called composites – a burn mechanic that encourages collectors to collaborate and combine multiple NFTs to form new ones.

It’s a little complex and warranted an entire explainer post yesterday, but the artist believes this could be a new class of generative art in and of itself – and I tend to agree.

Ninjalerts Ordinals

July

Ninjalerts is a popular NFT tool and sales aggregator that’s now expanding into Ordinals.

They’re launching 1,500 NFTs that act as PFPs and were inscribed on historical “pizza sats”.

But primarily this is a classic utility drop with benefits tied to their upcoming Ordinals app.

You can get WL by submitting a video eating pizza in a ninja costume (+500 videos already submitted) – because of course that’s a thing?

NOTE: These drops are lightly curated. Our only requirement is that they have recognizable founders. As usual, DYOR. To learn more go here.

E30D #3: CryptoPunks

Glitch Marfa, the analog gallery for digital objects, is back with a new collectible poster for July, celebrating their CryptoPunks exhibition.

This time the curators have chosen to highlight Snowfro’s zombie punk as an example of a notable cryptopunk persona within the context of a growing digital identity space.

The 30-day open edition for the poster kicked off last Friday, and you can find it and more exhibition details on the project's website.

While previous releases didn’t sell out, collectors still seem to like them.

Platonic Solids by Anthony James

After an almost 7-month hiatus since their last release, the Gallery Of Digital Assets (GODA) is dropping its first NFT collection of 2023: Platonic Solids by first-time NFT artist Anthony James, known for his previous installation & sculpture work.

The collection consists of 1,060 animated geometrical shapes, each with distinct backgrounds and light textures, but with an added layer of gamification where holders can burn pieces to unlock new art.

A bit of a test for GODA, as their existing collections have not been in the web3 spotlight recently.

Reddit Gen 4 Avatars

It seems like Reddit is not letting the pan get too cold before cooking again, as we’ve got some Gen 4 Avatar leaks and artist reveals.

The Reddit community seems divided, as these come within three months of a Gen 3 release that faced backlash for lacking anti-botting measures and has yet to sell out its massive supply.

I’m hoping they pull out some innovative mechanics for this one but for now I’ll just wait for more details.

Added to Watch List

The Key Generative Project by Batzdu

Batzdu, a pseudonymous digital artist who’s recently soared in popularity due to the notoriety of his 2022 GeoMetric Pepes collection, just teased an upcoming generative project.

The artist’s My Keyboard open edition, originally minted from January to April, has had an art and title change, and will serve as the key for the upcoming untitled project. Collectors will need at least 4 copies of the existing NFT to access the next stage.

This might be an interesting one for my fellow meme art and generative art appreciatoors.
