Feels like 1999 again

Two new drops with Y2K vibes

GM

Today's newsletter is to be paired with L'amour Toujours.

Well, this is true of every newsletter we send, but more so today.

Links for the Top 25 drops are HERE.

Did you know?

We have a premium pass that gives you access to a directory of every drop we cover, complete with detailed information on how to get on every whitelist (including those underrated ones that aren’t already full).

And for those curatooors out there, you can get free NFTs just by finding drops that end up on the Mint or Watch list.

Lastly, hang with me and the MoS team in a private discord with weekly voice chats. The vibes are great.

Feels like 1999 again

Sometimes the weight of terminally online hyperlinked existentialism can get a bit overwhelming, and all you want to do is just

…lay back

…and listen

…to some backstreet boys

…on your ipod nano

Luckily there’s a group of onchain weirdos (in a good way) determined to bring Y2K back with these two drops:

C4 by Songcamp

Minting Today - @songcamp_

For three weeks, 15 musicians came together to create 5 songs. The collab sessions will be the subject of an upcoming film by Zora.

Today, they’re releasing these songs as a collective NFT drop and across all streaming services.

Songcamp is also building an immersive website experience where you mint “blank CDs” as NFTs for 0.01 ETH and then burn – or write – the specific song NFTs that you want directly to the CD. Doing this creates unique generative cover artwork for your CD.

C4 is minting alongside a release party with live performances today at 4 PM ET.

Sound Capsules

Minting “Soon” – @sound_capsules

The pitch: Make an onchain playlist with music NFTs and sell it.

FYI, this is a very early look (still less than 300 followers) based on scant info, but here’s how I believe this works:

  • They use ERC-6551 to create “backpack NFTs” that can hold other NFTs

  • Think: an ipod that can hold songs

  • You then collect music NFTs and send it to your onchain ipod

  • You can sell these capsules bundled with all music NFTs inside

What’s cool is that the capsules can also be played as actual music playlists in wallets that enable dynamic NFTs.

The 10,000 supply seems huge, but really the value of any given capsule will come from the underlying music NFTs (and/or who made the playlist).

Fun fact: you can link your wallet to winamp for max nostalgia.

NOTE: These drops are lightly curated. Our only requirement is that they have recognizable founders. As usual, DYOR. To learn more go here.

33 million by Anna Lucia

Dutch artist Anna Lucia continues her exploration of generative art embroidery in the upcoming Verse x Tender collection, 33 million.

This is a field she’s delved into before, most notably in last May’s Generation drop where she reimagined the historical Gee’s Bend quilts in a similar minimalist style.

Details should be coming soon for this and the rest of the Dimensionality exhibition (plenty of other good art to check out there, but mostly very limited editions).

Base × Art Basel

For willing and able art enthusiasts on a tight budget, these affordable open editions courtesy of Base could scratch the itch without breaking the bank.

They’ve partnered up with three artists for these: Joshua Davis, landlinesart, and Anna Carreras. All have track records on various NFT platforms (including fxhash for all three) and together offer different styles to suit many a taste.
