DUNE404

  • Mint Date: TBD

  • Supply: TBD

  • Price: TBD

  • Chain: Ethereum (Base)

Unless you were touching grass all Q1, you’ve heard of ERC-404 — a hybrid NFT/fungible token standard that took the market by storm (mechanics here).

Demand waned, but now Animoca Brands is officially jumping into the mix with a 404 project of their own, DUNE404.

Here’s what we know: It looks like a community-focused project aesthetically inspired by the Frank Herbert books, it aims to “grow the 404 ecosystem”, it hints at a possible PFP, and Keith Rumjahn (tech and crypto founder who minted out the OliveX collection last year) founded it

Will this turn the market back onto ERC-404, or will crypto bros continue their search for their favorite Iggy Azalea song? Hard to say, but I’ve learned not to fade Animoca prematurely.

The Machine by IsmaHelio

  • Mint Date: May

  • Supply: TBD

  • Price: TBD

  • Chain: Bitcoin

  • Link

The Machine is the first of two generative art drops on Bitcoin featured today, a genre that keeps proliferating despite the recent decline in trading volume.

It’s the Ordinals debut for Spanish architect IsmaHelio, an artist who’s released a lot of NFTs on a lot of different platforms over the last 3 years, mostly on Tezos.

Given the man’s profession, his artwork usually involves inspiration from structural aesthetics, like in his most recent ArtBlocks where gothic buildings took center stage.

This upcoming drop continues that trend but strays from the facades to focus on what’s inside, with abstract pieces that look like what would happen if a Rubik’s cube and a floor plan had a baby.

It’s scheduled to launch this month, but with only two days left, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it pushed back.

As gm.scribe’s next drop following their inaugural sellout of Richard Nadler’s Memento Mori (a big sale at the time), I could see this benefiting from that momentum.

Looming Emotion by Shaderism

  • Mint Date: June 12

  • Supply: 400

  • Price: 0.008 - 0.01 BTC

  • Chain: Bitcoin

  • Link

VIVID Gallery, arguably the most commercially successful gen art platform on Bitcoin (they sold out all 7 of their previous drops), gears up for the eight-peat announcing Looming Emotion by Shaderism.

An animated collection that attempts to distill unresolved feelings into liquid glass, it feels like an evolution of the artist’s ArtBlocks drop from last year, keeping the same sleek look but with more focus on color.

The moody, free-flowing animations pass my vibe check and feel like a breath of fresh air in the geometric gen art genre, a style I haven’t seen on Bitcoin yet.
