Context
Dailofrog is launching a collection of digital cats on Bitcoin called KIBODO KITTY CLUB.
Here’s what we know:
When: TODAY at 2 PM ET
Supply: 960 inscriptions
Price: 0.0025 Bitcoin
Dailofrog previously launched Tiny Based Frogs, which was the first NFT collection on Base.
TBF holders will get first access to this drop, along with some other communities.
Our take
Tchotchke /ˈCHäCHkə/: a small, decorative object that's not valuable or precious.
You may have seen things like this in your grandma’s attic back in the day:
Silly little things, but they do have some real-world value. People like to hold them, they make nice table decorations, they bring a little fun to a room.
Digital tchotchkes are harder to justify, especially given that they often sell for 10x the price they would IRL.
What are these knick knacks for? They don’t have utility, and they probably aren’t going to be used as digital identities like PFPs.
Here’s their elevator pitch from the Kitty Club website:
Animated
Fluffy
100% Onchain
Pixelated
Decentralized
Generative
Unfathomably Based
Chonkers
…dancing joyously for you
When I look at one of these drops I always find myself focusing on variables beyond the object itself. Is this a bet on the creator? Will this give access to a more culturally important mint down the line?
It feels crude, but it’s hard for me to get excited about them otherwise. Maybe in a decade when we’re meeting friends in VR living rooms, but not yet.
Still, props for the thoughtful execution, which includes this vibrant website and an elegant inscription & rendering process where minters draw a randomized cat from a set of 1.23 billion potential variations. All onchain.
Plus there’s no denying that these are cute:

NOTE: These drops are lightly curated. Our only requirement is that they have recognizable founders. As usual, DYOR. To learn more go here.
TERRAINS II by ThankYouX
LA-based street artist ThankYouX is following up his sold-out genesis Ordinals collection from earlier this year with this upcoming release on Magic Eden.
Picking up where the first Terrains left off, this new series presents similarly styled abstract art. But this time the textures are much flashier (bussin’, even), almost like you’re looking at alien topography.
If it ain’t broke…just mint it?
Untitled SOL Edition by Grant Yun
Amidst Solana’s current pains, the chain’s art scene continues to grow with this upcoming debut by Grant Yun, one of the most popular artists on ETH.
The new limited edition will be part of the Life in Japan series as per a January teaser, but a lot of mint details are still missing.
While I struggle to get excited over limited editions in general, Yun has been in high demand for what feels like the entirety of the last two years. It’s worth a watch, especially if you’re a Solana soldier.
