And…here…we…go

O Dearly Beloved, the hour is upon us…

Today at 2:45 PM ET I’ll be hosting the first-ever Livestream Mint on X and YouTube.

Last week I mentioned that we’d be auctioning a 1/1 NFT during the stream.

But I never actually revealed what that NFT was…until now.

Presenting: Auntie’s Nail Spa by Niceaunties

We’re kicking off with one of the most surreal AI Videos your eyes ever did see.

There are two ways to think about this digital object.

First, you can view it as a straightforward 0:48 second video, which you can watch here

But at the same time, every frame is so visually dense that you can also look at it as a collection of many still AI images, each shot bolder than the last.

Here’s a sample of some of those frames, for your viewing pleasure (or discomfort).

TLDR on Niceaunties

Niceaunties only started making AI art twelve months ago.

Yet in that brief window, she’s become one of the most recognizable artists in the entire genre.

Part of the appeal is her unique approach to worldbuilding. Most of her collections exist in a surreal fictional world she calls the Auntieverse (also the name of her upcoming solo collection launching with Fellowship on Tuesday).

It’s an alternate timeline based on two themes:

  1. Aunties: These are old ladies living their best lives, inspired by actual women that she knew IRL

  2. Food: Food being consumed, food being created in labs, food merging with architecture or people, food inside of food inside of more food

Auntie’s Nail Spa has both elements in a video format, making it a quintessential Niceaunties piece.

For a deeper dive into the NFT, check out the full video I did here

Bottom line

If you’re a fan of unpredictable live auctions and sacred digital objects (and what reader of Mint or Skip isn’t), then I think you’ll have a good time during this stream.

Here are all the links you need:

See you there at 2:45 PM EST 🫡

NOTE: These drops are lightly curated. Our only requirement is that they have recognizable founders. As usual, DYOR. To learn more go here.

Mercedes-Benz NXT Superdackel

Have you ever thought to yourself, “Man, if only I had an NFT of my car’s bobblehead, then I could be happy”. Well if you have, you’re in for a treat, as Mercedes Benz is soon dropping the Superdackel.

It’s a collection of PFP-like 3D collectibles featuring the brand’s dachshund bobblehead (the very German Wackeldackel), or more specifically, its 2023 remodel done in Superplastic.

Although I question the reason for its existence, the Superdackel is a free mint with no strings attached and no grandstanding plans.

Just you, some Ethereum gas fees, and a 3D cartoon of a sausage dog wearing what looks like Instagram fast fashion streetwear and a set of matching knuckle tattoos.

Park Ave by Laura El

Illustrator Laura El showcases her distinctive cozy urban designs on Park Ave, a digital + physical release on Avant Arte.

It’s an ode to New York, featuring a warm city scene that’s reminiscent of the artist’s past work.

For Timberland boot wearers.

Mr. Kat x Typical Friends

Markus Magnusson’s Typical Friends has announced its next Limited Designer Edition with Mr. Kat, following the sellout of the long-awaited Booze Friends with Tony Babel a couple of weeks ago.

Mr. Kat, a.k.a. Jaime Alvarez, is most well-known in web3 for being the character artist for a KID called BEAST, but he’s also an accomplished artist in his own right, having previously worked with established web2 brands.

Details for this drop are very limited, however, and it’s coming when “they feel like it”. We’ll keep you posted.
